Xmas book sale, Posting dates, Pressie recommendations

So there’s not that long to go now until the Christmas Season ‘proper’….

Xmas Book Sale at HOME

Are you well ahead of the game and already got all your Christmas pressies sorted? If not, never fear….because our very own Christmas book sale is back! And it’ll be the first year that we will be holding it here at HOME. There will be some amazing books for sale at massively reduced prices – so don’t miss out, and come and grab yourself a real bargain.

We’re opening the Gallery doors at 12 noon on Monday 4 Dec, and the sale will go on until about 6pm. See this link to the HOME website, to find out more details.

Xmas Posting dates – deadlines for placing online orders

Continuing with the Christmas theme, we’d also like to highlight this year’s Christmas posting dates – so you know exactly what the deadlines are for your Cornerhouse Publications online orders.

Last day to order for European delivery is 10 December 2017.

Last date for Rest of the World is 5 December 2017.

And if you want your order sending to a UK address then you must get in placed on the website by 19 December 2017.

If you want to guarantee delivery for Christmas, we recommend you choose the Courier option at checkout. This is a faster postage method and you will be able to track your order.

If you have any questions about this, please contact NBN Customer Services cservs@nbninternational.com who will be able to advise on postage costs and estimated delivery times.

Xmas Pressie inspiration

And just in case you need some Christmas pressie inspiration, here are some ideas that may be just the ticket for those you’re buying for!

Jumping Cats Calendar  – so popular last year and one for all those cat lovers out there. It really is pictures of cats, jumping off high places. Taking the loose form of a calendar, it can be used (and re-used) for any year. For those fashion-conscious friends, why not get them a copy of The Vulgar: Fashion Redefined? This was a comprehensive book published alongside a show at The Barbican Centre in 2016/17. Not really their bag? Then there’s also the ever-popular Grayson Perry title, Grayson Perry: The Vanity of Small Differences that never seems to disappoint his wide reaching audience, and continues to sell and sell.

Edith Walks: A Film by Andrew Kötting is a recommendation  that is very close to our hearts, and links to our very own ‘home’ here in Manchester, the arts centre where we are now based. This title is a HOME Artist Film, and is the second film that HOME has produced with this talented filmmaker. The Guardian voted it one of the best films of Summer 2017. Definitely worth a watch, then! Also from the same HOME stable is their collection of short stores – Transactions of Desire: Volume 1. If you have friends or family that like to read books on relationships, failed relationships, unrequited love and lust, then this one is for you.

Playful friends? Maybe you want to treat yourself to a special game of ‘fishes’. If so, have a look at this beauty –Emil Nolde: Pairs Flowers. These Nolde paintings turned into matching cards just drip with colour and vitality. Or maybe there is a budding ‘culinary artist’ in your family group? Take a look at this special cook book by artist Mina Stone – Cooking for Artists: Mina Stone. Or are there any budding architects amongst you? Yes? No? Either way our final recommendation has to be our top selling set of playing cards, that make a really excellent stocking-filler. They are also a very informative collection for all those architectural knowledge nerds out there – Play Architecture: Playing Cards.

But let’s not stop you there…. If you want more Xmas pressie ideas then why not browse our online bookstore? There are over 4000 products to thumb through. Ordering online is simple and easy.

And whilst you are at it, don’t forget to sign up to our mailing list so that you don’t miss out on receiving information about our special discount codes. Hint – the January sales are just around the corner!

Wishing everyone a wonderful festive season, from all of the Cornerhouse Publications team. Here’s to a great 2018!
