Red Summer in Kensington Gardens by Jean Nouvel

This unique publication accompanies the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 designed by renowned French architect Jean Nouvel. It is the architect’s first completed building in the UK.

Nouvel’s design is a contrast of lightweight materials and dramatic metal cantilevered structures rendered in a vivid red that, in a play of opposites, contrasts with the green of its park setting.

Featuring essays by Paul Virilio and Samantha Hardingham, as well as an interview with Nouvel by Serpentine Gallery Director Julia Peyton-Jones and Co-Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, this catalogue is sumptuously produced and lavishly illustrated.

This publication is conceived and designed by Nouvel, and provides a unique insight into his working process.

Nouvel has also contributed two texts, which illuminate his overall practice as well as the inspiration behind his design for 2010’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion.
