Jacqueline Mair’s designs for Roger La Borde are sold all around the world and include cards, wrapping paper and sketch books. Throughout her career she has always made paintings, drawings and prints that are the inspiration for her illustrations. Her subject matter includes Indian architecture, Italian Renaissance paintings and buildings, still life and animals. Of particular importance are birds, observed, copied and reinvented. Mair’s style is characterised by an innate and highly developed skill at composition, excellent drawing and a real knowledge and flair for colour.
