This publication documents the exhibition, Nach Berlin by Candida Höfer at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, using the medium book as a place of presentation and display. On show are new photographs and projections that mark a new development towards abstraction in the artist’s oeuvre.

The title of the exhibition is a quotation from a film important to Höfer, Emil and the Detectives (1931). The film portrays the city of Berlin and its surprising twists and turns. Nach Berlin (To / After Berlin) can also signify the expectations of the visitors; destined to be disappointed if they expected to see the works for which she is already known.
