Plants and images of plants, motors and power systems, physical and cultural transfers are the mainstay of Simon Starling’s exhibition Under Lime.

In the three installations on display, the unconventional use of machines as modes of transport and energy supplies is not only alluded to: it is seen in action.

The ensemble demonstrates, simply yet strikingly, how vital it is that the precarious balance of the atmosphere be maintained both to sustain the natural processes of plant life and for the presentation of works of art.
