Since receiving international acclaim in the mid-1980s for his portraits of Italian aristocratic families, Patrick Faigenbaum has situated his work within the heart of the pictorial tradition, emphasising the expressive power of photography and its position within art history.
This book features the work of Patrick Faigenbaum, presenting 30 black and white and 21 colour pictures. His work was shown in 2013 (a first major presentation in Canada), in a solo exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery, co-curated by director Kathleen S. Bartels and artist Jeff Wall.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition at Vancouver Art Gallery, 9 March – 2 June 2013, and at the French Academy in Rome, 4 October 2013 – 19 January 2014.
