Lawrence Lek

2065

Lawrence Lek (b. 1982, Frankfurt) uses computer generated imagery and advancing technologies such as VR to develop digital environments described by the artist as ‘three dimensional collages of found objects and situations’.

He creates site-specific virtual worlds using gaming software, 3D animation, installation and performance. By rendering real places within fictional scenarios, his digital environments reflect the impact of the virtual on our perception of reality.

This beautifully designed fold-out publication in a slipcase presents a rich illustrated in-depth survey of Lawrence Lek’s CGI film, 2065 (2018).

It is published by Sadie Coles HQ in collaboration with Lek’s factional company of the future, Farsight Corporation, which utilises automatic intelligence to revolutionise the way humans live and interact with Artificial Intelligence.

2065 was included in the major group exhibition, AI: More than Human at Barbican Centre, London (summer 2019).

Published  on the occasion of the exhibition, Lawrence Lek: AIDOL at Sadie Coles HQ, London (18 April – 18 May 2019).
