Jan De Cock

A Romantic Exhibition

Jan De Cock creates structures in space with an architectural flair that operate as complex systems of interlocking fragments. The beholder is compelled to engage with the formal language of highly condensed sculptures made of industrially produced materials that assemble repetitions and variations of individual modules into expansive overall compositions.

This publication is designed as a handbook offering a systematically structured overview of Jan De Cock’s art. Detailed descriptions interweave to produce an encyclopedic wealth of details and minute observations that ultimately call the very idea of the organised survey in question.

The artist himself has already published six so-called ‘Cahiers’ that, together with this handbook, illustrate his preoccupation with a twentieth-century icon: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
