Haus-Rucker Co

Breathing Zones: The Legacy of Zamp Kelp. / Atemzonen: Der Vorlass Zamp Kelp

With their artworks at the interface of art and architecture, the Haus-Rucker Co group, founded in 1967, is considered one of the most important representatives of the Austrian post-war avant-garde.

Their pioneering oeuvre transcended the boundaries of traditional genres and called for a linking of art and life. The themes taken up by Haus-Rucker-Co, such as the increasing destruction of the environment, highlight the relevance of their work that persists to this day.

Its members, who include the architects Laurids Ortner and Günter Zamp Kelp, the painter Klaus Pinter and, from 1971, Manfred Ortner, set international standards with their participation in exhibitions such as the Documenta in Kassel. When Lentos Kunstmuseum in Linz acquired Günter Zamp Kelp’s extensive archive in 2020, it incorporated important works of Haus-Rucker-Co into its collection.

The exhibition, which is being staged in collaboration with Günter Zamp Kelp, will present major parts of this body of work for the first time and provide an overview of the group’s diverse oeuvre.
