Ballgasse 6

Galerie Pakesch und die Kunstszene der 80er

Ballgasse 6: Galerie Pakesch und die Kunstszene der 80er centres on the gallery in Vienna in which a new generation of young artists, such as Herbert Brandl, Otto Zitko and Josef Danner, had their first exhibitions.

But alongside the gestural painting of these Junge Wilde artists, Ballgasse 6 also presented Heimo Zobernig; from 1985 the sculptor Franz West was supervised by Pakesch; and John Baldessari, Ilya Kabakov, Mike Kelley, Martin Kippenberger, Sol Lewitt and Albert Oehlen also exhibited in the gallery up until 1993.

This book presents all of the avant-garde gallery’s activities in photos, documents and correspondences.
