David Troostwyk

Private Act

This book presents a major survey of David Troostwyk’s work spanning an active career of 30 years in contemporary art. It traces a progression of the artist’s concerns from his earliest works to his most recent monochrome silhouette paintings that draw attention to the absence, rather than the presence of an object. Conceived of by the artist and residing somewhere between a personal scrapbook and a formal anthology, the book juxtaposes text works with paintings, complicated 3D pictures with rough photocopies images, highlighting the major themes running through the artist’s work. Featuring an essay by Stephen Bury that gives a unique insight into the motivations and concerns running throughout Troostwyk’s career.
