This catalogue accompanying a retrospective exhibition – dedicated to the comprehensive and complex explorations undertaken in painting by Jonathan Meese – is the first to give an impressive overview of his paintings and his development over the past twenty years.

During this period he investigated genres such as the historical painting, the portrait, the self-portrait and portraits of friends.
