The term ‘Surreal’ is now familiar in contemporary culture, but in discussions on current art it is hardly ever used. Nevertheless, a major change has occurred in the subject matter of contemporary art of the last decade: the imaginary, the fantastic and the supernormal are now back with a vengeance. This renewed fascination with the unreal over the real is the territory charted by World Gone Mad.
Bringing together the work of 15 emerging and established UK-based artists, World Gone Mad highlights how surrealist strategies have found new life in the art of the moment.
