Following on from the success of Antony Gormley: Blind Light and Psycho Buildings, The Hayward has established itself as one of the world’s leading venues for complex, large-scale installation art.
Walking in My Mind is another major and ambitious experimental exhibition that transforms the Hayward Gallery’s spaces into a ‘giant brain’ and brings together large-scale installations by 10 international artists who explore the ways in which the creative mind processes information and how the artist pictures the world around them.
The exhibition aims to reveal the foundations of creativity and will feature work by important contemporary artists, including – Charles Avery, Thomas Hirschhorn, Yayoi Kusama, Bo Christian Larsson, Mark Manders, Yoshitomo Nara, Jason Rhoades, Pipilotti Rist, Chiharu Shiota and Turner Prize winner Keith Tyson.
Using diverse media including drawing, painting, video and sculpture their installations range from the ordered to the chaotic, and from the meditative to the overwhelming.
This richly illustrated catalogue will include site-specific photography of installations by featured artists; artist biographies, selected correspondence, working plans and drawings; and four texts.Published on the occasion of the exhibition Walking in My Mind at Hayward Gallery, London, June – September 2009.
