Untitled (Experience of Place)

Untitled (Experience of Place) is a collection of projects, texts and visual essays by contemporary artists and authors specially designed for this book.

It presents positions on current urban conditions and reflects on the perspective of the individual inside the existing and predefined space of con- temporary urban landscape.

This book features works such as What ́s the Time in Vyborg? by American artist Liisa Roberts about the library of Vyborg, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1928, writings and photographs by Michael Ashkin, as well as essays by Tacita Dean, Matthew Buckingham, Luisa Lambri, Johannes Wohnseifer, Anita Witek, Claudia Wegener and the London based artist collective Inventory.

It also includes texts by British architectural critic Jonathan Hill and Belgian urban researcher Steven Jacobs as well as an introductory essay by Jan Verwoert who reflects on the context of documentary practice in recent art.

The precisely documented projects and texts presented in this book exemplify the participation of leading contemporary artists and authors in a discussion that revolves around the question of how the individual ́s experience creates a new and changing understanding of place.
