Transfer

Wolfgang Weileder

For three weeks in September 2006, Wolfgang Weileder’s installation Transfer, occupied Station Square, Milton Keynes. Transfer was the construction of a full-scale replica of Milton Keynes Gallery’s architectural cube which was simultaneously constructed and deconstructed in a synchronised, choreographed process.

This publication documents the realisation of this project and investigates the relationships between art, architecture and public spaces.

Wolfgang Weileder was born in 1965 in Munich, Germany and lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne. He studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich (1989 – 1995) and the School of Visual Arts, New York (1995 – 1996). Weileder is currently Professor of Contemporary Sculpture at Newcastle University.
