The Day's All Mine

Heather Allen

This first publication by Belfast-based artist Heather Allen is an eloquent comment on the situation in Northern Ireland. Allen is best known for her occasional spoken-word performances which combine her own writings with works of classic literature. This book documents some of the artist’s writings including a memorable homage to Margaret Wright – a Protestant woman mistakenly killed by Loyalists – which was presented by the artist near to the murder scene as part of the International Language project in 2001. The Day’s All Mine is illustrated with photographs of good times and bad, and with decorative pages made in collaboration with graphic designer Stephen Hackett.
