The Aesthetics of Risk

SoCCAS Symposium Vol III

The Aesthetics of Risk is based on the third SoCCAS symposium which took place at the Getty Center with the collaboration of the Getty Research Institute, in April 2006.

The event convened a lively and informed group of international scholars, artists and curators who discussed different ways that visual cultural production in the modern and recent periods has engaged with notions of ‘risk’ in several registers of practice and experience – bodily, social, aesthetic.

This book also features several wider discussions of the legal and political formation of the discourse of risk, including Uncertain Times: The Notion of Risk and the Development of Modernity by Gerda Reith, University of Glasgow.
