Sascha Weidner’s (1974–2015) photographs are characterized by perceptions, aspirations and the world of the subconscious. His work has been exhibited and published internationally. He died suddenly at age 38.

The Far Flowered Shore allows an intimate insight into the Japanese culture in the time of the cherry blossom season, a time that allows associations with happiness, but also evanescence and Fukushima.

This beautiful artist book, which was posthumous designed this year in Tokyo, shows the series Hanami, which was produced by Weidner while staying at Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto 2013 (the final project before his untimely death in 2015).

This publication is supplemented with texts by the American poet Bill Berkson as well as centuries-old Japanese Tanka.
