Artists Respond to aspex

In 2010 aspex worked with partners in the UK, France and Belgium on a European Union funded project, entitled Landscapes, Cities, People, which aims to build and broaden audiences for contemporary visual art.

aspex’s partners – Fabrica, Brighton; La Malterie & L’H du Siege, France; Kunst & Zwalm & Netwerk, Belgium – were asked to nominate artists for this show.

In February 2010 the three selected artists – Kristen Posehm, Mélanie Berger and Yvan Derwéduwé – were invited to spend time at aspex and its immediate surroundings, to research the history of the area, its people and culture.

Following their visit, each artist returned home to develop ideas and new work in response to their first impressions of the place.
