Otto Piene, co-founder of the ZERO group, is also considered a pioneer of SkyArt and light art. Since the late 1950s he has created art, with his raster and fire pictures, that sounds out and transcends the boundaries between art, nature and scientific experimentation.

Light has always been the focus of his artistic work — whether in his ballets of light, his fire pictures or his early video and projection pieces.

This film was shot over a period of 15 years and illuminates this exceptional artist’s work since the 1960s. In numerous interviews, Otto Piene explains his attitude towards art and allows rare insights into his way of thinking and working.
