Heimo Zobernig

Here and Now at Museum Ludwig

For the opening of the exhibition series HIER UND JETZT (HERE AND NOW) in Museum Ludwig, Heimo Zobernig transferred an architectural installation, which he created in 2015 for the Austrian pavilion at the Venice Biennale, into the rooms of the museum and presented sculptures from the collection on it.

This reproduction of his site-specific installation was previously on show at Kunsthaus Bregenz.

The publication documents the workʼs journey through the institutions and its development from functional installation at the Biennale, to seemingly autonomous structure in the art gallery, to a hybrid of autonomy and function within the framework of a museum collection.

In its museum incarnation, Zobernig ironically questioned the definition of sculpture, the conventions of exhibiting and his own role as an artist.
