This publication tells, through its archives, the story of the Centre d’édition contemporaine in Geneva, recounts its productions and its artistic policy, and establishes its place, status, and commitment in the field of contemporary art.

The first part of the book reunites texts dealing either directly with the CEC as a reference point or, more generally, with publishing, through analyzing its recent developments (particularly from the 1960s on), and its different production and distribution strategies.

At the center of the book is a section of color documentation of exhibitions, productions, and events at the CEC. The third part constitutes the catalogue of all the editions, projects, and exhibitions which have formed the ‘biography’ of this venue.
