Leben? / Life?

Biomorphic Forms in Sculpture

The group exhibition Leben? / Life? takes on existential questions in contemporary sculpture and finds organic, biological and anthropomorphic forms, as well as an expansion of the concept of matter.

Art and science are both the most significant motors of society as well as being central to defining our identity. Through art, DNA strands have moved out of the abstract field of research into our visual memory, raising important questions toward an understanding of culture and the significance of people, their bodies and their inviolability.

Sculptures have made it easier to recognise and learn about biological contexts and genetic structures and have merged into the human consciousness.
