Jochen Klein

This superb book looks at the remarkable work of German painter Jochen Klein, who died in 1997 at the tragically early age of thirty.

A hugely talented young artist, Klein had an enormous zest for life; he lived and worked intensely but was at heart an empathetic person, full of solidarity, humour and humility all at the same time. Examples of his oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, collages and installation pieces are beautifully illustrated throughout.

Two accompanying essays by Doug Ashford and Helmut Draxler (with text in English and German) consider Klein’s life and work. A biography and bibliography are also included.
