Hans-Peter Feldmann’s work draws on an enormous personal archive he has spent decades gathering. In this collection of black and white amateur photographs, the theme of love is reiterated through wedding pictures, staged portraits and holiday snapshots. For Feldmann, the stereotypical, even clichéd compositions of these appropriated photographs can often be overlooked because of their familiarity. He rescues them through either isolating the image or, in this case, presenting them in themed groups.

This album continues Feldmann’s preoccupation with pastiche, and his organization of the existent into recognizable genres and subjects. They are presented without text or explanation of who these people are, where and when they were taken, and what happened to these happy couples.
