Hans G. Conrad

Interaction of Albers

Josef Albers taught preliminary design courses (grundlehre) at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm twice between 1953 and 1955.

The Swiss photographer/designer and student, Hans G. Conrad photographed Albers’ teaching in extensive series. For the first time, these images are now published in their entirety.

Together with works by the student, they create a multifaceted and lively impression of Albers’ interaction to teach the fundamentals of art and design.
