Hanneline Visnes

Afterwards, in the Blank Wood

This is the first solo publication by the Glasgow based, Norwegian artist Hanneline Visnes. CCA has commissioned new work from the artist specifically for this book which includes a series of new drawings of recurring patterns and images of trees and birds. The patterns represent a desire to order nature, the flowers are symbols rather than actual representations of flowers. The patterns are placed between trees that, in a simple way, become a landscape – a wood.

The publication has allowed Visnes to explore and develop the serial and narrative aspect of her practice, together with the relationship between her detailed and intimate works and the scale and form of a publication.
