Hannah Wilke: Sculpture in the Landscape highlights a selection of photographs by the iconic American feminist artist, Hannah Wilke (1940-1993).
These photos were never printed or shown in the artist’s lifetime including her Gum in Landscape series (depicting her well-known little ‘vulval’ terra-cotta sculptures), as well as her ceramic and bronze sculpture maquettes for large-scale public art.
This publication, created in partnership with the Hannah Wilke Collection & Archive, Los Angeles, provides a rare opportunity to experience a previously unknown body of the artist’s work and is illuminated through essays by Lauren Rosenblum, Marsie Scharlatt, and Andrew Scharlatt.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition, Hannah Wilke: Sculpture in the Landscape at Temple Contemporary, Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University, Philadelphia, United States (25 April – 12 July 2019).
