Frank Bowling

Trying it out. Trying it on. Trying to do it better: 2022 Wolfgang Hahn Prize

In 2022 the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst will award Frank Bowling the Wolfgang Hahn Prize.

The present publication pays tribute to the prize-winner, who was born in Guyana in 1934 and who experimentally developed his abstract painting in studios in London and New York.

The artist also significantly influenced discussion on Black Artists at an early stage as a well-founded critic.

Bowling and his work are introduced with a laudatory speech by Zoé Whitley and an interview between him and Pia Gamon.

The Wolfgang Hahn Prize has been awarded on an annual basis since 1994. It is given to exceptional contemporary artists.
