exposures is the UK Student Film Festival, bringing you the very best of new talent from filmmaking courses all across the nation. exposures takes place every December at Cornerhouse, Manchester and in addition to our prestigious awards, there are events and industry guests to inspire new talent.
This short film compilation is a combination of winners and favourites from exposures 2006 and demonstrates the talent, originality and diversity of the next generation of UK filmmakers. Films include: Zabbaleen: The Rubbish Collectors of Cairo (Louise Palmer, Bournemouth University). Winner of the Grand Jury Award and Best Documentary 2006: the engaging story of Milad, a ‘Zabbaleen’ who earns his money recycling Cairo’s waste. Just Waiting (Hamy Ramezan, University College for the Creative Arts) Winner of Best Drama 2006: the touching story of young boy in the dark world of a refugee camp. Grandma and the Monster (Addy, Elliot and Steer, Manchester Metropolitan University): joint winner of BBC Best North West Award 2006: a combination of old age, stop-motion animation and the disaster movie!
