Despite her association with artists of great reputation and influence, and the visionary nature of her work, Cuban-American abstract, minimalist artist Carmen Herrera has exhibited little.

It therefore makes it even more poignant and exciting that Ikon Gallery, in partnership with Museum Pfalzgalerie, was able to present the artist’s most comprehensive exhibition to date (2009).

In her 94th year, Herrera finally received the attention her work long deserved. This catalogue accompanies Herrera’s exhibition, containing documentary photographs of the works in the exhibition and essays on her work.
