Contemporary artists who examine nature and landscape in their work, again and again focus on the book as a form of expression.
Landscapes are composed from written pages and book objects are created from natural materials. Written-down myths of becoming nature and becoming human, herbaria — and books on herbs attempt to grasp the phenomena.
Many visual artists take up the book as a medium — specifically also in connection with the big topic of ‘nature’. With this exhibition, the Museum Sinclair-Haus, Bad Homburg in Germany, has finally become a universal library in which very diverse artistic forms of expression find their space.
Featuring the work of 23 artists including Su Blackwell, Anish Kapoor, Anselm Kiefer, Alicja Kwade, John Latham, and Katie Paterson.
Published on the occasion of the exhibition Buchwelten / Book Worlds at Museum Sinclair-Haus, Bad Homburg, 1 October 2017 – 4 February 2018.
