Addendum: Architecture, Sculpture and the Space of Transition is something of a literal title, designed purely as an addition, a decorative postscript even.
In relation to the work of Kurt Schwitters and the concept of Merz, which forms the subject of the first essay, it acts as a footnote to a much more comprehensive body of literature.
The second essay which follows is a different and more elaborate kind of addendum, beginning where the first essay ends.
It uses the themes of translation and transformation to construct a speculative reading on the nature of the contemporary city.
