Bluecoat is Liverpool’s centre for the contemporary arts. The UK’s earliest arts centre, it seeks to map, reflect, influence and share current and future tendencies in the arts. Located in central Liverpool in an historic building – the city’s oldest – it houses a working community of artists, cultural organisations and creative retailers and has an active participation and outreach programme working with local communities.
Bluecoat’s arts programme is shaped and developed by creating a sense of place, and through dialogue and collaboration with artists, partners, participants and audiences within and beyond our building. These aims are supported by the publication and promotion of catalogues, texts and essays that reflect on and discuss this programming.
